This is an ongoing project to provide a complete history of Kansas TSA pins. If you have a picture of a Kansas TSA pin and/or knowledge of the creator of the pin, please email the webmaster that information, so we can update this page accordingly.

Other Kansas TSA Pins

These were the first actual TSA pins developed by Kansas.
They were made of plastic.
Either late 1980’s by Bill Elrod or early 1990’s by Walt Wiechen.

This was the first metal Kansas TSA Pin produced.
It was manufactured incorrectly as the red and blue backgrounds are reversed. After a few years, this pin was more collectable than the correctly-produced version.
Designed by Walt Wiechen Chaparral Advisor.

The 2nd metal Kansas TSA pin.
Note the corrected coloring.
Designed by Walt Wiechen,
advisor Chaparral High School

Designed by Rick Schmidt and Walt Wiechen at the Lebo State Conference
Prior to 1998.

Designed by the Osage City Chaptersand Advisor Rick Schmidt.
Working on the actual date we designed and started trading this pin. Since there is a Kansas Jayhawk pin like this without the TSA we have a document from a Kansas University Lawyer approving the design and its development.

Traded in the mid – 1980’s to mid-1990’s.

Traded by only a select few because it had to be purchased from the state of Kansas.

Only traded by Osage City TSA at national conferences in the mid 1990’s.

Only traded by Osage City TSA at national conferences in the mid 1990’s.

Traded by Osage City students during years Kansas did not have a trading pin

Traded in the mid-1980’s to mid-1990’s.

Traded only by a select few because it had to be purchased from the state of Kansas.

Obtained by Bill, John or possibly Walt.  Walt was not involved with TSA for most of the 1980’s although he did help us run the 1986 National TSA Conference in Wichita.

Obtained by Osage City TSA/Rick Schmidt-Advisor and traded by several of the dominate Kansas TSA Chapters in the early 1990’s
